Ballstad Vaereiermuseum
About
Dive into Lofoten's fishing history at Ballstad Væreiermuseum. The Jentoft family has been producing fish for 6 generations at Ballstad. After extensive renovation of the old barn from 1881, the small family-run fisheries museum was established in 2024. As a living treasure chest of history and culture, surrounded by several historic buildings, we open the doors to the adventures of the past with today's preservation of the rich fishing heritage from Lofoten. When you enter, you will see that the museum consists of a number of old production equipment from the end of the 19th century, which were also used during Lofot fishing. Rustic implements hang from the ceiling, old fishing boats are proudly displayed, and the walls tell stories through photographs, films and other artefacts that have survived the passage of time. Welcome to Ballstad Væreiermuseum!
