Geitastrand Church is located in Orkdal municipality, and was built in 1859. It was when the first church in the village (formerly Geitastrand municipality). Land was separated from the farm Aastan on Geitastrand. Before Geitastrand church was built in 1859 to shore buildings take over the fjord to the Viggen Church on Viggja. Geitastrand listened to the gun as both a municipality and parish, and Viggen church was the parish church for both gun and Geitastrand. The church was expanded in 1941. In 1965 Geitastrand folklorist gun Parishes transferred to Orkdal Parishes. In 1950 to 1951 was undertaken a major restoration work inside the church. This led to some changes in the interior. Chancel arch was removed, windows and gallery were changed and the pulpit was moved. At the same time the church was painted inside. Geitastrand Church of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage listed as specially protected churches from their time. The church is still in use.
