About

The Jewish Museum in Oslo opened in 2008 in what used to be a synagogue in Calmeyers gate 15b. In the years 1921-1942 the synagogue was an integral part of Jewish life in this part of Oslo. The museum presents the history of the Jews in Norway from the middle of the 19th century up until the present. Where did the Jewish immigrants come from? How did they settle and live their lives in the Christian, Norwegian society? What is Jewish life like in Norway today? In conjunction with a permanent exhibition, the museum will also offer temporal exhibits and various cultural activities.
