About

ART-NATURE-CAFÈ Experience guided tours, activities for children, art, nature and a unique view from the top of Oslo only 30 minutes from city center with the metro. High above Oslo, by Holmenkollen, lies the gilded Rose Castle - an outdoor art project dedicated to democracy, rule of law and humanism. The Rose Castle presents over 300 artworks - monumental paintings, sculptures and installations. Clearly visible from the city center, five golden constellations shine to symbolize the five years of occupation and the fight for liberty, democracy, and human rights in Norway during the second world war. The stories from the war are used as a backdrop to lift up the values of freedom that are again pressured and constantly need to be defended. The Rose Castle is made by the famous Norwegian artist brothers Vebjørn and Eimund Sand, which opened its gate in 2020 and will stand open throughout 2025. The Rose Castle was featured in Time Magazine's list: "The Worlds 100 Greatest Places".
