Konventionsgarden

The Konventionsgarden was built in 1778 and owned by the Anker family. In 1814, Norway broke away from the union with Denmark and wrote and signed its own constitution. However, Norway was brought into a union with Sweden. King Christian Fredrik stayed at the Konvention for many weeks during the negotiations with the Swedish crown prince Karl Johan. On the 14th August, “the Konvention at Moss” was signed. It saved the Norwegian constitution and the parliament house. The Konvention is available to for public viewing only when advertised. The tourist office Visit Moss has launched a phone service, where you can listen to information about the Konvention.
