Branicki Palace
About
Branicki Palace, once the opulent residence of the powerful Branicki family, now serves as the headquarters of the Medical University of Białystok and a public museum. The baroque monument—known as the ‘Versailles of Poland’—combines a richly decorated palace interior with an expansive English landscape garden and French‑style parterres. Visitors can explore the multimedia exhibition of medical history in the palace cellars, walk through the historic trail that showcases restored rooms, and stroll through the picturesque gardens, including the central cour d’honneur and the orangery. The museum offers two main guided routes: the ‘Walk into the Past’ historical trail, which takes about an hour and a half and shows the palace’s attic, cellars, and exhibition hall, and a quicker tour of the Museum of the History of Medicine and Pharmacy, lasting 45–60 minutes. Admission is free for short visits to the open galleries, but tickets are required for the guided tours. Prices vary from 20 to 30 zł for adults, with reduced rates for students, pensioners and children. The palace’s blend of Baroque architecture, serene gardens, and educational exhibits makes it a favorite for history lovers, families, architecture enthusiasts and school groups. It is especially charming in late spring and early autumn, when the gardens bloom and the weather is comfortable for walking.
