About

The focus of attention of the Frombork Museum is the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus, his life and work presented on the background of his era and the environmental context of the place, where he spent the majority of his lifetime. The first space in Frombork, devoted to Nicolaus Copernicus, which had an expositional character was the memorial room opened in 1912. It was located in a tower called traditionally the Copernicus Tower, in the north-western corner of the defensive walls on the Catedral Hill. The after war history of the Nicolaus Coperninus Museum in Frombork begins on the 5th of September. Presently the Museum is located mainly in the buildings on the Cathedral Hill- in Palace of Warmia Bishops. The building, representing Gothic and Baroque styles and palced in the south-estern corner of the Frombork stronghold, burned in a fire in 1945. During the yers 1965-1970 the Palace was reconstructed for the needs of the museum.
