Barbican, Museum of Krakow
About
The Barbican is a remarkable medieval fortress and one of the few surviving barbicans in Europe. Constructed between 1498 and 1499, this Gothic‑style, moated cylindrical brick structure features seven turrets and a 24‑meter‑diameter courtyard. Located on Basztowa Street in Krakow, it once served as a key checkpoint along the city walls, connecting the main gate to the Old Town. Today it is part of the historic fortification system and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s military history through a series of exhibits and guided tours. The site is accessible to all ages, with admission prices ranging from 7.5 PLN for discounted tickets to 40 PLN for family passes.
