About

Lake Malta, named after the Knights of Malta, is a popular recreational spot in Poznań created by damming the Cybina River. Covering 64 hectares, it hosts major kayak and rowing events on one of Europe’s finest regatta courses (2,190 m long, 170–400 m wide). Visitors can enjoy the city’s largest fountain on the western side, thermal springs on the northwest bank, and the charming Maltanka children’s narrow‑gauge train that winds along the north shore to Zwierzyniec. The south bank offers an all‑year ski slope, a toboggan run, a driving range, a mini‑golf course, and a bathing beach. During summer, the lake becomes a cultural hub with open‑air performances at the International Theatre Festival, while in winter a skating rink opens on the west bank.
