About
Situated in Warsaw’s Żoliborz district, the Powązki Military Cemetery stands as one of the country’s most significant memorial sites. Established in 1912 as an annex to the Catholic cemetery and becoming a state cemetery in 1918, it now contains the graves of soldiers and officers who fought in the Polish‑Soviet War, the September 1939 Campaign, and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. Spanning roughly 24 hectares, the cemetery is open to visitors year‑round and serves as a solemn reminder of Poland’s military history.
