At Surf Academia João Macedo, we have been teaching surfing for more than 20yrs, we are fascinated with surfing’s positive impact on people of all ages, races, religions, sexes and personalities! This surf school was founded by Joao Macedo, an international surfer recognized worldwide for his career in the Big Wave World Surf League Tour and Nazaré Big Wave contests as well as author of Method 7, a unique and recognized by the International Surfing Association (ISA) surf coaching methodology. In the last couple of years, we have transformed our founder’s passion for technique, surf progression and coaching into a form of activism we share with a environmental non-profit called: Hope Zones Foundation (www.hopezones.org) - this line of action at Surf Academia has established our motto, our belief, our creed and core service: MAKING THE OCEAN EXPERIENCABLE.
