O Forno Pastelaria
About
The pastry shop O Forno is the heir of the famous Lusa pastry shop, which for several decades remained the place of conviviality of the bourgeoisie, in the first half of the twentieth century, in a cosmopolitan city like Angra. In this pastry shop, all the regional sweets are prepared with mastery, according to the ingredients and manufacturing methods described in the recipe books inherited from their ancestors. Of the exquisite confectionery produced here, Dona Amélia cakes stand out. These have been made on the island of Terceira for more than 100 years. In the beginning of the XX century, the Kings of Portugal, D. Carlos and Dona Amélia, came to the island and "The people of Terceira" offered them a local cake, that was named in honor of the Queen, "Bolo Dona Amélia".
