About

The Convent of Cardaes was founded in the XVII century to accommodate a community of carmelite nuns who lived in seclusion. It is one of the religious houses that survived the big 1755 earthquake and preserves its entire artistic heritage which includes one of the world's biggest collection of XVII century Dutch tiles. Nowadays the Convent is a residence for women whith special needs, whose living conditions are assured by a dominican community.
