The origins of this church, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Graça, are legendarily related to a Santiaguista figure, Paulo da Gama, brother of Vasco da Gama, information that, however, still needs documentary confirmation. We know that the temple was built in the late 15th century. Despite its modest proportions, the church is a relevant monument in the Manueline context.
