The Alabote Sport Fishing Charter’s is a sport fishing company specialized on trolling for big game species which operates at Ponta Delgada, island of Sao Miguel (Azores archipelago) since 1998. The location of the Azores in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and their numerous submarine banks make them one of the best locations in the world to find a great abundance of fish especially of large big game species like blue marlin, white marlin, spearfish, bluefin tuna, bigeye tuna, longfin tuna, yellowfin tuna, mako shark and swordfish. The “Alabote” is a 32′ Bayliner Explorer 3270 built in the USA completely reconstructed for fishing by our captain and owner. Alabote is repowered by twin 260 hp Yanmar´s, have a very spacious deck, chair by Game Fisher, Garmin electronics and is fitted with full safety equipment, fully insured and licensed. The standard big-game fishing tackle is 80 lb class with Shimano Tiagra reels on Penn International curved butt rods or Alutecnos stand-up curved butt rods, while the light tackle is with 20 lb, 30 lb and 50 lb (Penn / Shimano). Australian style bucket and stand-up harnesses are also provided. Our team is composed by a very experienced captain plus two deck mates (one of them marine biologist), all natives from the island that have been fishing in the Azores throughout their lifes.
