About
The foundation of the Monastery of Cête, traditionally ascribed to D. Gonçalo Oveques, dates back to the 10th century. Despite the Gothic renovation, this Church is an example of the long-term adoption of Romanesque patterns. While the north side portal must be considered Gothic, the main portal incorporates late Romanesque style features. In the cloister, highlight goes to a few well-preserved tomb chests of noble knights.
