Parque da Cidade
About
Parque da Cidade is the largest urban park in Portugal, covering 83 hectares of lush greenery that stretch all the way to the Atlantic Ocean – a rare natural setting within a city. Designed by landscape architect Sidónio Pardal, the park opened in 1993 and was completed in 2002, offering visitors an expansive oasis that blends Mediterranean flora with modern recreational facilities. The park boasts public restrooms, a cafeteria‑restaurant, bicycle parking, shared cycle paths, sport fields and a beach volleyball court, making it a versatile destination for families, couples, young people, and seniors alike. The Environmental Education Centre invites guests to learn about local ecosystems, while the scenic pathways and open lawns provide the perfect backdrop for picnics, walks, and sunset strolls. With a seasonal schedule that stretches until midnight in the summer months, visitors can enjoy extended hours of sunshine and a vibrant, relaxed atmosphere throughout the year. Its blend of natural beauty, educational programs, and accessible amenities make Parque da Cidade a must‑visit highlight of Porto.
