Solar Egas Moniz is a 19th‑century manor that has been fully restored into a boutique hotel nestled in the tranquil village of Paço de Sousa, Penafiel, in northern Portugal. The property boastingly offers ten suites—ranging from classic family rooms to a Junior Suite with a private balcony—each equipped with modern amenities while retaining period‑authentic décor inspired by local folk art. Guests enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living area with an enoteca and fireplace, a beautiful garden with an outdoor swimming pool (available May‑October), a children’s play area, a games room, and a barbecue area. The hotel adopts a “slow‑living” ethos, providing guests with privacy and a serene retreat from the city bustle. Reservations are required in advance, with a minimum stay of two nights from October to May and three nights from June to September; exclusive accommodation is only available when staying at least four rooms. Room rates start at €140 per night during the low season (October–May) and rise to €170 per night during the high season (June–September), holidays and New Year’s celebrations.
