About

In 1908, Joaquim dos Anjos Costa orders the construction of Villa Idalina in Seixas- named after his young wife Idalina-, preparing the return to his fatherland after living for twenty years in Rio de Janeiro, to where he emigrated in 1988. The house is placed on a terraced ground, in a prominent location, well visible from the road in the front, and with splendid views over the Mino River. The project struggled through a long process that Joaquim dos Anjos Costa followed very closely. At least five different versions of the house were drafted, all of them designed in an eclectic language that, in some way, identified an exclusive social status, the elite, with which the owner wanted to be recognized. Besides from what is shown to the exterior, the interior has the suitable conditions of status and comfort, thanks to the use of high quality materials and finishing (decorative paintings in ceilings and walls, wooden flooring and imported porcelain sanitary among others). Besides a modern system of plumbing, heating and electrical installations, everything here contributes to the idea of a way of living "a la francaise". The house will be finished to be opened in December of 1914.
