Located in the historical city centre of a charming town in Transylvania, Leul de Aur is 4* Hotel which welcomes its guest in a wonderful environment of an old inn, resurrected during the past years with a fresh approach, hard work and both caring for the present and cherishing the past. It is said that a long time ago, sometimes lost in the mists of time, Saxon merchandisers came from German territories and decided to make a halt in the mysterious lands of what we now call Romania. Charmed by its beauty and by the prosperity of the common society, they built a burg in the very heart of Transylvania. They placed it at the crossroads of the most important commercial paths and called it Muhlbach, one of the seven citadels that used to guard the lands beneath the Carpathian Mountains. The townlet’s prosperity slowly attracted more and more visitors. That was the main reason why the town’s leaders decided to start building the first inn and which they called Leul de Aur (The Golden Lion). As time went by, Leul de Aur turned to be an important landmark for both the town and its inhabitants with rumours about its services being heard beneath the Romanian borders; from Vienna to Budapest until Levant. The chambers of the charming inn had become a highly sought-after establishment where town’s ruling council used to draw the battle lines and decide the future, while the intellectuals and local artists were cheering up the mood with debates and words of wisdom. Furthermore, it had become a popular destination for feasts, baptisms, weddings or anniversaries for all local common folk. It is said that time never stays still. The famous inn had been no exception to this belief, having lost both its glory and importance for a long, long time. Leul de Aur is now a spectacular reflection of its old glory.
