The hotel is home to many interesting events and has hosted memorable figures having a special place in the world of Arts and in our history. Founded in 1905 the hotel has been witness to the defining times of our era including the Belle Époque and the harsh reality of the two World Wars, capturing essential traits of the movements that were carefully preserved during the recent restoration. In the fall of 2014 we are re-opening this sanctuary of fantasy and arts to you! This establishment was once the place to be for important figures such as the magnificent George Enescu whose residence was the famous piano suite. Situated just 1.1 km ( 0.68 miles) from our hotel, in one of the most beautiful architectural designs Bucharest has to offer dating back to 1903 is the George Enescu National Musem. The hotel was also home to soprano Hariclea Darclee famous for having been dedicated Opera Tosca by Puccini himself, who also asked her to perform the leading role.
