Piaka Unirii
About
Piața Unirii, located in the heart of Bucharest, is one of Europe’s largest public squares and a bustling transport nexus. The square is bisected by Unirii Boulevard and features the 360‑meter Union Floor bridge that spans the Dâmbovița River, offering commuters and pedestrians a unique engineering landmark. In 2018 the square’s spectacular fountain complex—Europe’s largest—was restored, transforming the plaza into a dazzling water show that attracts locals and visitors alike. Around the square on its northern side stands the historic Hanul lui Manuc, while to the east the Unirea Shopping Center and the Cocor department store provide shopping and dining options. The lively atmosphere, coupled with its central location, makes Piața Unirii a popular meeting point for commuters and a picturesque spot for photographers.
