Avala Tower
About
Nestled on the picturesque Mount Avala just 40 minutes from central Belgrade, the Avala Tower is an iconic landmark that offers visitors panoramic views of the Serbian capital and beyond. The tower is 204.68 m tall—an emblem of the country’s architectural ambition and a vital node for television and radio transmissions. In 2010, a new tower was completed after the original 1965 structure was destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999. Starting in 2005, the tower’s rebuilt form incorporates a distinctive equilateral triangle cross‑section, a design legacy of the original architects, Uglješa Bogunović and Slobodan Janjić. Today, the tower houses an observation deck at 122 m, a panoramic café “Vidikovac” at 119 m, a multimedia hall, and a children’s playground. These amenities turn a simple observation point into a family‑friendly attraction that also caters to photographers, history enthusiasts, and adventure seekers. Visitors enter via two quick lifts that can carry up to 1,200 people a day. Entrance tickets are priced at 400 RSD for adults, 200 RSD for students, pensioners and secondary‑school students, and a nominal 1 RSD for children under seven, disabled persons and licensed guides. Operating hours are 09:00–20:00 from 1 April to 31 October, and 09:00–18:00 from 1 November to 31 March, making it possible to explore the tower during both the warm summer months and the cooler winter season.
