House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia
About
The House of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, located at 13 Nikola Pasic Square in downtown Belgrade, is a landmark of Serbian political and architectural heritage. Completed between 1907 and 1936, the neo‑Baroque and neo‑Renaissance Revival structure boasts a grand façade, a lantern‑crowned dome, and sculptural medallions of legendary figures. Inside, visitors encounter a museum‑like setting with a 165‑square‑metre library containing rare books, frescoes, and sculptures that celebrate Serbian artistic and political achievements. The legislative chambers in their original splendor feature ornate chandeliers and stained‑glass windows designed by Russian architect Nikolay Krasnov. Beyond its governmental role, the complex hosts a variety of exhibitions, a rich collection of cultural artifacts, and an interactive cultural heritage gallery. Guests can also experience a 3‑D virtual tour covering more than 2000 m² of the building, and participate in educational programs such as “Open Door Day” and child‑focused political workshops. Whether you’re fascinated by architecture, history, or the day‑to‑day workings of Serbia’s parliament, the House offers an engaging journey through the nation’s civic life.
