About

The historical Palace was originally a fortification for the town of Marchegg and was constructed under King Ottokar of Bohemia in 1268. Today the town is known for the eponymous Baroque Place and for its storks. In 2022 it has been completely renovated and made barrier-free. It creates a perfect setting for families to embark on an adventurous journes: from a very special natural landscape to a cultural-historical site. Marchegg is home to Central Europe's largest colony of white storks breeding in trees. They build their nests in the old trees of the Marchauen, a Nature Reserve, which is managed by WWF. -If you're lucky, you might even cross paths with a herd of kinik ponies. Thank you for treating these wild and wonderful animals with respect. You can book guided nature tours around the year at the "Marchegger Storchenhaus" (in the palace, open end of March to beginning November). The Museum is open from May to beginning November.
