Slavin
About
Slavín in Bratislava is a solemn monument and cemetery that honors 6,845 Soviet soldiers who fell defending the city in April 1945. Elevated 39.5 m above the city, the granite pylon dominates the complex and bears an 11 m bronze victory statue by A. Trizuliak. The central ceremony hall is framed by a majestic colonnade, while a bronze relief by R. Pribiš commemorates the tragedies of World War II. Visitors wander through the park, marked by trees imported from former Soviet regions, and enjoy panoramic views from the eastern terrace. The grounds incorporate six collective mass graves and 278 individual graves, offering a reflective experience for history buffs and families alike.
