Umelka: Centrum Moderneho Umenia A Kommunity
About
Umelka: the center of modern art and community includes a gallery, restaurant, garden, and a multifunctional pavilion. The Umelka Gallery is located on the first floor of a unique historic building and is listed among the cultural monuments of the Slovak Republic. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the building beneath the gallery. To the left side is the multifunctional pavilion, and the entire garden area is fenced, creating a unique space—a peaceful oasis in the midst of the bustling city of Bratislava. The former building of the Umelecká Beseda (1924–1926; architects Alois Balán and Jiří Grossmann) became a significant milestone in the development of Slovak architecture on its path to functionalism. This building is also the residence of Slovak union of visual arts - SUVA.
