Strbske Pleso Lake
About
Strbske Pleso is a picturesque, high‑mountain resort perched 1,319 m above sea level in the heart of Slovakia’s Tatras. The resort’s namesake glacial lake, a turquoise mirror of the surrounding peaks, has long attracted visitors, from early 19th‑century hunters to modern families and serious sportsmen. A network of hotels, chalets and lodges surrounds the lake, offering comfortable accommodations in an unspoiled alpine setting. In winter Strbske Pleso transforms into a world‑class ski centre. Eight modern lifts and 7.5 km of groomed pistes cater to all skill levels, from beginner beginners to seasoned racers. The ski school, open from May to December, welcomes children as young as five, and the attached ski jump and Nordic combined facilities host international competitions. The resort’s extensive parking, trolley and rack‑railway connections make it accessible from Poprad and beyond. During the warmer months the area shines as a premier hiking and outdoor adventure hub. Iconic trails lead to peaks such as Kriváň and Rysy, while the Veveričí park, cycling routes and canoeing on the lake provide fun for all ages. Families, nature lovers and adrenaline seekers alike find a wealth of activities amid the Tatras’ dramatic scenery. The close-knit village of Strbske Pleso itself adds a touch of traditional hospitality, making a visit both restful and exhilarating.
