Vintgar Gorge
About
Vintgar Gorge is a spectacular 1.6‑kilometre canyon carved by the Radovna River in north‑western Slovenia, nestled within Triglav National Park just a short distance from the town of Bled. The gorge boasts sheer walls 50–100 metres high and a series of waterfalls, rapids and tranquil pools that create a striking alpine scenery. First opened to the public in 1893, the canyon is now traversed via a network of wooden walkways, suspension bridges and terraced paths that guide visitors along the river. Along the route, the 13‑metre Šum Falls—literally “noisy falls”—stands out as the largest river waterfall in Slovenia, while the Žumer Galleries, an elevated gallery of stone arches, offer an elevated perspective of the gorge’s dramatic cliffs. The walk is accessible to all ages, with clear signage and a marked path that ensures visitors can safely enjoy the natural beauty without tripping or wandering. Tickets must be purchased online in advance through the official website; an admission fee applies, and the gorge operates daily from 08:00 to 17:00. Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or family looking for a scenic day out, Vintgar offers a memorable and easily accessible natural adventure.
