Cap de Formentor
About
Cap de Formentor stands as the dramatic northern tip of Majorca, offering panoramic vistas that stretch across the Mediterranean and beyond. The iconic Formentor Lighthouse, completed in 1863, rises 22 m above the cliff, its white tower and grey lantern a prominent landmark against the sky. Visitors can reach the cape via a winding nine‑mile stretch of road that winds through hairpin bends, or by hiking along the adjacent Formentor Beach. While the lighthouse itself remains active and mainly serves maritime navigation, the surrounding cliffs provide some of the island’s most striking scenery, ideal for photography, sunset watching, and nature walks. Whether approached by car, coach, or on foot, the cape remains one of Majorca’s must‑see adventures, a quiet refuge from the bustling tourist hubs.
