Formentor Lighthouse
About
Formentor Lighthouse stands at the northernmost tip of Mallorca, on the Cap de Formentor peninsula. Originally opened in 1863, the lighthouse has long been a landmark guiding ships through the rugged Tramuntana coast. Visitors reach the site via a scenic 13.5 km road from Port de Pollença, winding through dramatic cliffs and offering panoramic vistas of the island, the sea, and neighboring isles. Recent regulations have banned private‐car access to the cape during peak summer months, replacing it with a shuttle‑bus service that departs from a bus station in Port de Pollença (still under construction). The shuttle journey takes roughly 30 minutes, after which a short walk leads to the historic lighthouse itself. Entry to the lighthouse is free of charge but requires the shuttle service unless special exceptions apply.
