We stayed at the AC Algeciras Hotel and asked the staff for a recommendation for dinner. They sent us up to the city center (about a 15-minute walk). On the way, we passed by this small restaurant about 2 blocks from the hotel and decided that if we couldn't find any place special in the city center, we would come back and try this place. It was definitely a favorite of the locals. We were served the best tapas that we had in all of Spain. It was one of those experiences that you hear about where the staff makes something special to serve you instead of you ordering it (it might have been that we also don't speak Spanish and we had trouble communicating). It was very casual and only had about 10 tables and a bar for seating. We were served cheese and carmelized red onions on bread, smoked salmon with cavier on bread, and cheese, ham and tuna on bread. It was so good that we went back for breakfast the next morning and dinner that night. We also recommended this restaurant to a young couple looking for somewhere to go for dinner. Excellent!
