Skip the madness of Barceloneta Beach, leave behind the Euro trashiness of some of the other chiringuitos (beach bars) and walk along til you can hear more of the sea and less of the tourists. Mar Bella meaning “beautiful sea” is one of the two nudist beaches (sweet no tan lines!) in the city and El Chiringuito Relevant is the only beach bar worth seeking some shade under.The food is delicious: huge healthy portions, melon gazpacho and patatas bravas to share. Cocktails are fresh and best on the beach, their classic Mojito is more popular than water! Great music, from nice vibes to breaks n’ beats which can be heard till the sun starts to set when a live DJ takes over. Make sure you ask about the events going on at night as it’s a hot spot for wild beach parties and after-party fun. BarChick found herself spending a long lazy afternoon flitting between beach and bar, happiness wouldn’t even begin to describe it!
