The GAVA MUSEUM was founded in 1978 following the discovery of the Gava Prehistoric Mines, which are currently open to public and complete the visit to the museum. The latter has a permanent exhibition which explains the formation and transformation of the countryside, focusing on the relationship between people and their environment down through the ages. Geological and botanical items from the Llobregat delta and the Garraf massif are on show in addition to archaeological exhibits from the Prehistoric Mines (pottery, tools and the Venus de Gava ) and the southern half of the Llobregat delta (a bronze Roman helmet, a collection of anchors, etc.) From time to time the GAVA MUSEUM puts on temporary exhibitions and has and assembly hall, a teaching workshop, a specialist library and a guided tour service.
