About

Parque del Laberint d'Horta is a historic botanical garden and maze that sits on the former estate of the Marquis of Llupià in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona. Designed in the 18th‑century neoclassical style, the park blends walking paths, ornamental gardens, water features and a central wood‑enclosed labyrinth that draws visitors of all ages. The maze, originally created by the Italian landscaper Domenico Bagutti, winds through aromatic pine‑and‑yucca hedges and offers a leisurely, puzzle‑like stroll that has become a beloved pastime for locals and tourists alike. At the heart of the park lies an elegant pavilion housing museum‑style exhibitions on landscape architecture and horticulture. On clear days the park’s Mediterranean flora—featuring palms, lavender, rosemary and seasonal blossoms—creates a fragrant, colorful oasis, while the surrounding water fountains and stone sculptures add historic charm. The park’s close proximity to the city center makes it easy to reach, and its well‑marked trails cater to families, history enthusiasts and garden lovers. From its first public opening in 1971, Parque del Laberint d'Horta has grown into a premier green space that celebrates both natural beauty and cultural heritage. Whether you seek a quiet walk, a family adventure, or a study in garden design, the maze park offers a unique blend of leisure and learning. The park is free of charge on Sundays, Wednesdays, Mondays, and Fridays for residents of the Horta district and for the elderly, students, and children under five. On all other days the general admission fee is €2.23, with a discounted rate of €1.42 for people with disabilities, young people, and under‑14 children. The park is accessible to people with reduced mobility and can accommodate up to 750 visitors per day. The best time to visit is from late spring to early autumn (May–October) when the gardens are in full bloom and the maze is most inviting. The open hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM from April 1 to October 31; from November 1 to March 31 it operates from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (closed 10:00 AM–2:00 PM on December 25). The park is open 365 days a year. Visit the official website at https://link.bcn.cat/cPdLd for updates and event information.
