Teleferic de Montjuic
About
The Montjuïc Cable Car (Telefèric de Montjuïc) is an iconic gondola lift that connects the lower terminus at Parc Montjuïc with the historic Montjuïc Castle at the hilltop. Offering a 750‑metre journey, the service provides unobstructed panoramic vistas of Barcelona’s skyline, Sagrada Família, Camp Nou, and the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. The cable car consists of closed cabins that accommodate wheelchairs, with a single stop at Mirador de l’Alcalde on the return trip. Operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, tickets must be purchased prior to boarding, and online discounts are frequently available through the Hola Barcelona app and website. The attraction runs daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm during the off‑season, extending to 9:00 pm in summer months, and remains open from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm on 25 December, 1 January and 6 January. Visitors often combine the cable car with nearby cultural sights such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Magic Fountain, and the Olympic Ring. The ride offers an immersive experience that is both family‑friendly and well suited for history enthusiasts, urban explorers, and photography lovers alike.
