Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao
About
Nerua takes its name from the Nervión River, the backbone of Bilbao, which in ancient Latin was called Nerva. It blends innovation with its roots, creating a seasonal gastronomic experience that celebrates local ingredients from the gardens, sea, and farms. The restaurant’s philosophy, rooted in the Basque word “Muina” (core, heart, or essence), guides the chef José Alija as he crafts menus that change with the seasons, reflecting the rhythm of nature. Guests can enjoy a unique dining experience at the “Mesa de la Cocina”, a 2‑to‑4‑person kitchen‑view tavern where diners witness the transformation of ingredients into exquisite dishes while engaging with the culinary team. The venue offers gluten‑free and vegetarian options, serves wine and beer, and accepts major credit cards. Reservations are recommended; the restaurant is open daily from 13 :00 pm to 14 :00 pm and again from 20 :00 pm to 21 :00 pm, with a 24‑hour cancellation policy.
