This 4 stars hotel, fully renovated in 2019 to bring back its story, the Puente Colgante Boutique Hotel is a hotel designed for people who explore the world, food and the art of living. The lead character of our history, Manuel Calvo y Aguirre, made a fortune in Havana in the mid 19th century with his sugar cane growing companies. He came back to Portugalete in 1898 to make his residence in the mansion that is now the Puente Colgante Boutique Hotel. Inheritors of the history and culture of Portugalete, there are two traditions that have been kept up over the years at the Gran Hotel Puente Colgante: The art of performing hospitality and the commitment to the social life of Portugalete, celebrating and sharing the most special moments of its people. We are in front of the "Puente Colgante" (Hanging Bridge). A UNESCO world heritage site, an engineering marvel, a bridge that connects both sides of the river stuary that people use daily to cross it and tourists, to see the sites from the top. The decoration of the 74 rooms is inspired by the origins of the hotel and uses a colour scheme with yellow, green, blue and grey, which are very recognisable colonial colours in Cuba. All of that is combined with the highest quality beds and mattresses for our guests to rest on. Our restaurant, El Paladar La Habana serves delicious a-la-carte prix fixe menus and creative side dishes, pintxos and wine typical of the Basque Country, as well as Cuban dishes.
