Castillo de la Concepcion
About
The Conception Castle stands on the hill that gives Cartagena its iconic skyline. From the Roman temple of Asclepius to the Moorish fortress and the medieval keep, the site chronicles 3,000 years of history and offers visitors a layered narrative of the city’s past. Today the castle is part of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas and operates as a centre for the interpretation of Cartagena’s heritage. Guided tours, audio‑guides in five languages, and a panoramic lift make the experience accessible and engaging for all ages. Visitors can explore the keep, the ancient cisterns, the medieval rooms, and the panoramic platforms that provide sweeping views of the harbour and the city below. The museum’s exhibitions combine models, artefacts and interactive displays to bring Cartagena’s history to life.
