Museu Del Ferrocarril
About
The Railway Museum of Catalonia, located in the historic town of Vilanova i la Geltrú, is a living heritage site dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history of rail transport in the region. Visitors enter through a former steam locomotive depot that has been transformed into a modern museum, featuring an impressive collection of historic vehicles, locomotives and artefacts. The Rotunda houses the majority of the original steam engines, while the “Viatge en el Tren del Temps” exhibit takes guests on a guided journey through 19th‑century railway history, complete with living‑action displays and interactive audio guides in several languages. The museum also offers a range of educational programmes, a gift shop with railway memorabilia, and a dedicated free play area for children. On any day between 10:00 and 20:00, with a short lunch break, guests can explore the full exhibit space, learn about the technological evolution of railways, and enjoy a relaxed, family‑friendly visit.
