The Casino was oponed in 1925 It was a select place for the bourgeoisie of Pego before the Civil War, that stood out for its fabulous Carnival and New Years Eve Balls. The lively Music played by Oltra and His Boys consisted of Boleros and Milangas. But it was the summer Fiesta when the music was more for dansing than listening. There was a band and star from Valencia who was very well known in Pego... La Paqui Mar. From late morning through the afternoon you could hear the music inside the Casino and this continued for evening aperitifs. But after dinner the band moved to the terrace outside. On these nights the most essential thing that people remember are the home made ice creams or the Casino. Coffee, chocolate and Meringue Ice Cream along with Home Made Horchata and Iced Lemon.. The life of the Casino has largely been one of recreation and also the hunters, when they mostly played cards, dominoes (tute or Julepee) Played while partaking in the aperitifs that were seved here.
