About

The Wharf of the Caravels (Muelle de las Carabelas) in Palos de la Frontera is a maritime heritage complex that celebrates the historic voyages of Christopher Columbus. It is home to a full‑scale replica of the Santa María—alongside replicas of the Pinta and the Nía—built in 1992 for the quincentennial of Columbus’ first transatlantic expedition. The replica, constructed in the fishing port of Isla Cristina in western Huelva province, is displayed on a slip at the historic port of La Rábida and is surrounded by a promenade that invites visitors to walk along the waterfront, explore interpretive panels, and view artifacts related to the Age of Discovery. The site offers a unique blend of history, architecture and picturesque views of the Atlantic, making it a must‑visit destination for history enthusiasts and casual tourists alike.
