About
The building, become church in 13th century, was built on a strong house previous to 12th century. The church was probably dedicated from its origin in the Virgin Mary by Juan Perez de Baztan, Lord of the castle of Jaureguizar and Ainhoa. Inside, the church Notre-Dame of the Assumption presents the characteristics of the religious labourdine architecture: a single nave, without pillars, covered in skeleton, as well as floors of forums(stands), called galleries. The church was registered in 1996 on the list of Historic monuments.
