Roque Nublo, also known as the "Clouded Rock," is a prominent volcanic plug located in the heart of Gran Canary Island. Standing 80 metres (262 ft) tall and rising to an altitude of 1,813 m (5,948 ft) above sea level, it is the island’s third‑highest point after Morro de la Agujero and Picos de las Nieves. The monolith is a rugged, cone‑shaped formation that offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, making it a favourite destination for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers alike. Visitors typically trek up the well‑marked trail that winds through the lush middle plateau, reaching the summit in about an hour to take in the breathtaking vistas of the island’s Atlantic coastline and rural villages. The surrounding Roque Nublo Natural Monument covers an area of 260 km² (100 sq mi) and is a popular spot for ecological and geological studies, showcasing the unique volcanic history of the Canary Islands.
