If you are planning to visit a winery in Rioja, you cannot miss Bodegas Ontañón and our unique Templo del Vino. It is one of the most special wineries in the Rioja wine appellation just 5 minutes from the centre of Logroño. The Pérez Cuevas Family, founders of Bodegas Ontañón, has been connected with the land and with wine for over 80 years. In those days they made their own wine in a hermit’s cave-type wine cellar in the “Bodegas Quarter” of Quel, following a tradition dating back over 300 years. Their passion for this drink led them to share this “Wine Cult” with the rest of the world and that is why they founded the first Temple of Wine in Logroño. They did not just create a winery for making and ageing wine, but rather a special place, looked after by the God of Wine and Mythological Heroes in the form of huge sculptures, paintings and stained glass, where the wine of the Ontañón Family attains its maximum expression.
