Located in the heart of Madrid’s historic district, and receiving over 10 million visitors each year, San Miguel Market is the capital city’s gastronomic temple, the contemporary essence of Spanish cuisine. From the finest Iberian ham and the freshest daily catch from Galicia, to Mediterranean rices and specialty cheeses from Castile, Asturias and the Basque Country. Fine wines and fresh ingredients of the highest quality, from every corner of Spain. Opened as a wholesale market in 1916, by May of 2009, it became the first and leading country’s gastronomic market. In 2018, the market will undergo a period of consolidation when it comes to many of the stalls within.
