Museo del Aire
About
The Museo del Aire – officially the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics – is a sprawling aviation museum situated on the historic Cuatro Vientos Air Base in the outskirts of Madrid. Covering more than 66,000 m², the museum boasts a vast outdoor exhibition area and seven purpose‑built hangars that together house over 200 Spanish aircraft, ranging from the early Blériot XI and Breguet 19 to iconic jets like the de Havilland Dragon Rapide and the MiG‑17. In addition to the aircraft, visitors encounter a rich collection of engines, uniforms, weapons and miniature models, offering a comprehensive look at Spain’s air‑force heritage. Interactive displays, guided tours, and seasonal events make the museum an engaging destination for families, history buffs and aviation enthusiasts alike. Visitors can stroll through the meticulously curated corridors, experience the roar of historic propeller planes, and learn the stories of the Spanish Air and Space Force’s evolution through the 20th and 21st centuries.
