About
Parador de Alarcón is a splendid fusion of historic grandeur and contemporary luxury, resting in a medieval fortress that dates back to the 8th century. The castle, originally built by Muslim settlers and later expanded by King Alfonso VIII, dominates Alarcón’s skyline with its imposing walls, keep, and panoramic terraces overlooking the Júcar valley. In 1966 the Spanish tourism agency Turespaña converted the fortress into the country’s first Parador, creating world‑class accommodations and gourmet cuisine while preserving the site’s storied past. Today visitors can wander the ancient battlements, explore on‑site exhibits, and enjoy the intimate ambiance of a hotel housed within a living heritage monument.
