Pozo Soton
About
Pozo Sotón, officially known as the Sotón Mine, is a world‑class underground tourism attraction located in the heart of Asturias, Spain. Visitors descend 386–556 m into the earth on guided walks through levels 8‑10, experiencing the atmosphere of a working coal mine – the chance to feel like a miner for a day. For those less inclined toward deep dives, the adjacent Mining Experience and Memory Centre (CEMM) offers an interactive museum that tells the story of the HUNOSA mining company and the people who built the region. Included in the experience are a mining escape room, theatrical performances set in the 1960s, and a unique birthday party package for families. Pozo Sotón has earned numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the 100 most representative industrial heritage sites in Spain and an Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an adventure seeker, or traveling with children, the combination of underground exploration, educational exhibits, and family‑friendly activities makes Pozo Sotón a must‑visit destination in the North of Spain.
