About

Calau is a lively tapas and pinxo bar located right in front of Port Bo beach in the picturesque centre of Calella de Palafrugell, only a few metres from the sea. The menu showcases a wide range of traditional and contemporary pinxos and tapas, all made from fresh local produce. Patrons can enjoy everything from classic Spanish pinxos to innovative, one‑of‑a‑kind creations. The bar offers a relaxed, open‑air atmosphere where visitors can sit at the bar or at a table and savour a variety of small plates and drinks. The bar is open daily for two service windows: a morning‑to‑afternoon session and an evening session. From Monday to Thursday the first session runs from 1 pm to 3 pm and the second from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. On Friday the evening hours extend to 10:30 pm, while Saturday and Sunday the first window starts at 12:30 pm and ends at 3:30 pm, with the evening session from 7 pm to 10:30 pm. To maintain a lively, informal experience, Calau does not accept reservations; guests are welcomed as they arrive and will be placed on a waiting list if no tables are immediately available. Beyond its delicious food, Calau is also known for its extensive drink selection, which includes local wines, craft beers and a rotating cold beverage menu. The staff are friendly and helpful, making sure every patron can order with ease, whether it’s at the bar or a table. Whether you’re a local looking for a quick bite or a tourist wanting a sunny lunch by the sea, Calau offers a relaxed spot to enjoy Mediterranean flavours in a charming coastal setting. Make sure to ask the staff for the latest drink list or ask for any daily specials. The bar’s location, friendly service and quality foods make it a must‑visit stop for anyone exploring the Costa Brava.
